At 12:51:43 on 22/02/2011 (23:51:43 21/02/2011 GMT) a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit Christchurch New Zealand, causing much destruction--including many churches--and a death-toll of 185 and injuring 11,000. The spire of the Cathedral—‘the heart of the city’—fell, killing many. A Radio NZ reporter said to the Dean, ‘People are saying this was a punishment from on high.’ He rejected that: ‘God does not cause earthquakes.’ That is not what God says—always in the context of his infinite love:
